Album Of The Week: Kilowatts – Undercurrent

SOMN009_200

As far as record labels go they don’t come any better than Somnia…
Consistantly releasing high quality composisitons coupled with breath taking artwork, they are a label that manage to push boundaries and come up with original projects time after time.
The brand new release ‘Undercurrant’ by Kilowatts is no exception to the rule, and proves yet again that Somnia are leading the way in experimental soundscapes…

Album Of The Week: Various Artists – Hope

Hope Pic

We are pleased to announce that ‘Hope’ is now available in Digipak format from the Fluid Audio web site.

www.fluidaudio.co.uk

Digital release will follow on 29th June available in all formats from the Fluid Audio digital store.

We thank you for your patience and support and hope that you will enjoy the album.
A big thanks goes out to all the artists involved in the project, and to those that helped make the release possible x

Hope:

Fluid Audio kick starts it’s catalogue with ‘Hope’, a compilation sprawling across 13 tracks from established artists, Digitonal, Hol Baumann, Ishq, Bersarin Quartet and James Murray, as well as up and coming producers, Field Rotation, Iambic, Snakestyle, Playb, Halogen and Ben Beiny.

As suggested by its title, ‘Hope’, embodies a concept of positivity and the alleviation of strife “through the creative translation of emotion into sounds sent to soothe [and] images formed to inspire”. Artists were asked to create compositions that reflected their interpretation of the term Hope, producing varied yet cohesive results with a profound resonance. 50% of the profits are donated to Toybox, a charity providing aid, shelter and support for homeless children in Latin America, the majority of which are estimated a life expectancy of around four years on the street.

Coupling all of this with the CD’s bespoke artwork and carbon neutral manufacture provides a consumable and tangible product that serves to aid a constructive cause through the medium of music.

Fresh on remote viewers curated label Moteer, from deep somewhere in steep Lancashire, a debut distilling the essence of melancholic reflection down into a suprising, uplifting album. The most ethereal of rhythms, sodden beats cast a glistening web around snatched guitar melodies and faraway strings, graffiti-influenced rhythms and choral vocals, rhythm tracks made from wooden things and tumbling keys, which subsequently coalesce into utterly beguiling, ramshackle but resolute tunes, disassociated voices, xylophones, benign twinkles and reduced deepfolk bodypops accrue into a wonderful, cohesive summation to a genuinely remarkable record.

I guess that’s one way to sum up the unique sounds of Clickets. I have been deeply submerged in his music of late and so felt he is more than worthy of a mention on here…

IDMf004 – Length and Brecht (Remixed) transcends the definition of remix album by sounding more like a four movement orchestral piece with a recurring theme: the leitmotif of a woman’s voice singing out in a layering of beautiful, ambient tones. Download here

alephz13_120

Since being told by the Aleph Zero guys that a promo was on its way I was very excited to know what Evan was going to come up with on the third Bluetech album. I had heard the samples and to be honest couldn’t really tell if this was going to meet my high expectations. I can honestly  say that it did and more! Evan has managed to bring together the original Bluetech sound, and yet at the same time come up with something completly new….

The Night Just Keeps Coming In

Purchased this album a few weeks ago and have to say it just gets better and better with every listen.
A special selcetion of modern classical sound scapes that take the listener on a gentle journey of electroacoustic bliss.
Watch out for the Emanuele Errante remix…Simply stunning!

Not so much a remix album as a remake of Dakota Suite’s The End Of Trying long-player, reconstructed according to the original record’s tracklisting with the help of a list of artists who might be said to represent a kind of Boomkat in-house favourites list: Peter Broderick, Machinefabriek, Arve Henriksen, Deaf Center, The Boats – not to mention just about everyone on the Miasmah label’s roster. The assembled contributors make up a truly starry line-up.

The IDM label are back with the third installment and yes it’s another very cool freebie!

From start to finish, Mind Tree is an auditory journey that takes the listener through all walks of life.
Every possible emotion is touched upon: melancholy, anger, excitement, and happiness being just a few, and all of them are perfectly blended into a cross-genre compilation of only a fraction of the talented artists that contribute to IDM Forums.
